Unfortunately, my lovely sister is suffering from this skin disease called “Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea” – aka “Subtype 1 Rosacea”. Rosacea causes feel woman ugly and also creates lack of self-confidence. Commonly you heard this disease as “Rose Disease”. Better not to ignore if you have some remarkable redness on your face.
Facts About Rosacea (Rose Disease)
- Rosacea is a chronical skin desease which lasts long when appears. At least 16 million American people is suffering from this disease.
- It is a common skin disease that causes redness of the face, enlargement of the superficial veins on the skin, acne-like ruffles and facial edema.
- Particularly it occurs in the middle of the face (cheeks, nose and forehead) and settles for a long time. Rarely it can be seen in the neck, chest, ears and head.
- Rosacea disease can cause burning, stinging and redness in the eyes (Ocular Rosacea) and can also cause it to grow. Then it is called Rhinophyma.
- It is more common in white skin women than other skin types. More likely to be seen in range of 30-50 years old.
- Although the cause of the disease is not fully known, it is known that the causes of redness in the face play important role in the formation of the disease. Some examples to this; Exposure to extreme warmth or cold, heavy sports, sunlight, severe sunburn, stress, some food and beverages; alcohol, hot coffee and tea, spicy food etc…
- Long-term use of topical or nasal steroids can also cause rose disease.
- It is known that parasite named Demodex found in the derm(skin) flora plays a role in the formation of Rosacea disease.
There are 4 subtypes of Rosacea (Rose Disease);
- Subtype 1 Rosacea: Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea
- Subtype 2 Rosacea: Papulopustular Rosacea
- Subtype 3 Rosacea: Phymatous Rosacea
- Subtype 4 Rosacea: Ocular Rosacea
Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea (Subtype 1 Rosacea)

- Common and practical name of Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea is “Subtype 1 Rosacea”.
- More commonly 30 year is the age at disease onset and 45 is more commonly seen as a peak point for the diease.
- Mostly women are suffering from this diease. (75% in women %25 in men)
- Also possible to say that white skinned women are more affected than dark skinned ones.
- Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea is the most common subtype of Rosacea Disease (Rose Disease) in the World.
Risk Factors for Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea
- Puberty age acnes (better not to touch them)

- Sun burning on the face (staying under the sun without any cover or protectors)

- Decreasing consumption of alcohol will help to control Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea symptoms. Disease can make you be demoralized and thus alcohol addiction can be appear! Try not to limit your social life because of the disease. Do not forget that even Cancer can be defeated if you focus on living happy.
- Try to use certified organic skin care products. Skin care products that contains chemicals can make the status worse. So try to be more selective when you buy skin care products. Better to see USDA stamp before buying organic products.

Is there a Proven Treatment for Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea?
Unfortunately there is not known cure or treatment method to heal Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea. But there are some ways to minimise the symptoms of disease.These are;
- Use of Antibiotic (with a supervision of a dermatologist)
- Laser or light therapy (Commonly 50% -70% chance to minimise visible blood vessels, however disease can reoccur with new blood vessels)
- Sun protection is a must.
- Avoid to use chemical additive and uncertified face skin care products.
- Creams or medications can be used. Try to use with no steroid.
- Derma Roller type skin repair stuff may be used with a supervision of a dermatologist.

When we first met with someone first impressions come by the face. So we all think face is important. Rosacea patients can feel uncomfortable. They(not all) have lack of self confident. After diagnosis, some kind of bad habbits can appear in Rosacea patients.
